American Dream Diner - Review

Although it does have a lot to offer in terms of gourmet meals, when it comes to getting a juicy beef burger or a savoury hotdog, Geneva's choice is quite limited. It was therefore out of frustration and a deep craving for chilli cheese fries that I began to frantically search the Internet for a new place to eat: somewhere unique, somewhere close by and most importantly- somewhere affordable.

The American Dream Diner, a restaurant that is just a walk away from Gare Cornavin, ticks all of these boxes and more! With a beautiful 1950s interior, everything from the cosy, red leather seats to the staff's checked aprons is styled to perfection. There is even a mini jukebox on each of the tables, and the fact that none of them work doesn't stop you from tapping on the buttons like an overexcited three-year-old.

The food takes its time to arrive, but is definitely worth the wait. From onion rings and nacho hot dogs to barbecue burgers and ice cream sundaes, this restaurant has everything you need to survive. They also offer salad on the menu but let's be real- at a place like this, eating healthy is the last thing on your mind.

If I had to pinpoint one thing to criticise, it would be the size of the portions. Each dish is absolutely massive, so don't be fooled by the heading that says 'Starters', you cannot finish those cheese fries on your own.
